Abstract Background Two ipsilateral hemivertebrae is less common and presents severe growth imbalance caused by the vertebral anomalies. However, there a paucity of reports regarding to two thoracolumbar hemivertebrae. The purpose present study evaluate long-term outcomes posterior surgical correction thoraco-lumbar spine deformity Methods From 2006 2014, total 14 consecutive pediatric patients with congenital were treated excision short segment fusion. following parameters measured: coronal major curvature, cranial caudal compensatory segmental kyphosis, lumbar lordosis, trunk shift, apical vertebra translation sagittal vertical axis. There improvement 74.2% curve from angle 64.1° before 15.8° curves improved 69.8 69.0% 25.6° 7.7°, 26.9 8.2, respectively. kyphosis 59.9° 13.6° after surgery, 20.8° Alignment plane either maintained or within normal values all patients. Conclusions Good spinal balance can be achieved posterior-only hemivertebrectomy kyphocsoliosis hemivertebra. complication neurological injury low but technically demanding procedure.
